My lawyer keeps telling me to make an appointment to come in and give responses to one or more discovery requests. What is a discovery request?
Discovery is a set of legal tools used to get information, access to documents, to preserve testimony, and to get admissions to key questions.
It is important that you respond to these in a timely manner. There are penalties associated with not complying with the request including but not limited to sanctions and attorney fees.
You should follow your attorney’s advice and schedule an appointment immediately. As a reminder, you should never lie to your attorney or become uncommunicative with your attorney communication is key to a successful relationship.
If you are in Kentucky, then I’d recommend that you call my office at 502-587-1950 or 502-509-1490 to schedule a consultation if you have an agreement, parenting schedule or court order to discuss your options.
