How Much?

The amount of the engagement fee can only be determined after learning the specifics of a particular case though an initial extended consultation.

Armed Forces?

If you are active military, then thanks for your service. Mr. Schmidt offers special rates for the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Please call for further details.

Out of State?

We work with clients who are out of state on a regular basis so we can setup teleconferences, video conferences, etc.

Simple.

We keep it simple. We use engagement letters which are one or two pages long. The letter outlines our agreement and we both sign at the bottom.

Doable.

We work with clients on the financial aspect of the representation, so let's talk because we generally work with clients on the financial aspect of a representation.

Clear.

You are responsible for the fees earned and the costs incurred per the letter we sign. If you put money into a retainer with us, then it is your money until it is earned or spent on your behalf.

Fair.

Once we deduct what is due to us and the representation ends, we will refund the balance to you or you can keep the money in the account without penalty as a retainer.

Beginning.

Representation of any client does not begin until after an engagement agreement is fully executed and the retainer / flat fee is paid in full.

Uncontested Divorce / DUI Pleas

Typically, a flat fee basis plus costs and expenses.

All Others

Typically, hourly rate plus costs and expenses (T&E) on a retainer. We cannot control what the other side does or does not do, so it is not possible to quote a total cost for the representation.

Other Arrangements

Other arrangements are possible depending upon the situation.

Credit Cards

We accept credit cards as a convenience to our clients and there is a 5% convenience fee for each charge.
